Revised Presentation Schedule for KU Side

Hi,

It's Jaran. :)

First of all, I need to let you know that there are some changes in the presentation schedule since there are some people who cannot join the conference. So please contact the right person when you contact the presenters of each topic. Sorry for inconvenience. :s:s:s

11.12 Nationalism: Hanseok

11. 19 English Spread and education + other issues related to English: Sora & Wonhee

11.26 Parents Responsibility: Janiece

Even though Hanseok and Janiece have to do the presentation by themselves, plz don't worry. KU members will help if that's needed. We'll try. :)

About today's session, it went pretty well, I think. The topic was kind of heavy and dry but as we talked in the session, it's very necessary that we can have a chance to think about those things. I really appreciated it.

(It was really great to see Hiro and plz let him know! lol)

If there are any concerns, plz let us know!

Have a great week!

Hey guys!!

Sorry for late self-introduction.

This is my first time to participate in this conference.
It was really exciting to see my friends, Jaran and Naoki, through TV.
Also, I am really thankful for this opportunity 'cause I could meet some new people across the border. I'd love to get to know all of you and make friends. Let's have fun together!

Comments from Jaran (Revised)

Hi guys,

I had much fun with you guys on Monday and I've read comments from Naoki and Emi. Those are understandable and I'll make sure things can be done in that way. However, I'm not sure whether KU side can change the seats closing to microphone and also to camera since it is difficult to move things in the classroom because we are not the only people who use it. Plus, there are some stuff below the tables. :s I'll try but there is a possibility that we have to maintain current situation. People who charge the room don't want us to Move microphones actually because it can be broken. So instead, we will try to speak louder and clearer.

Below is the presenters of each session.

11.5 North Korea: Jinho & Jaran

11.12 Nationalism: Hanseok(<- For Sure) & Jinny or Chae (Can be changed)

11. 19 English Spread and education + other issues related to English: Sora & Jongsun

11.26 Parents Responsibility: Janiece & Wonhee

In fact, there can be some change because of the members of our side. Jongsun didn't attend the first session and I'm not sure whether he's participating the session or not. At the same time, Jinny hasn't decided which topic she's going to present because she has some internship things. So I'll let you know when the things get fixed.

It is really a good idea that presenters contact one another (KU and WU) so that we can prevent overlapping content. Below is the e-mail addresses of KU side.

What I want to say is that I hope everybody make even a comment per a session. I don't want people sit there for two hours just thinking. So next time, I'll speak much less than the first session and encourage other members talk more!! :)

If you have other comments, let us know. I'll also ask KU members about the first session and post comments if they have. Thanks!

P.S. Please don't forget to post WU side contacts and the presenters of each session, too.

Bo-hyeon

hello!

my name is sim bo-hyeon. plz call me bbo.

ぼーでもいいし、ぽーでもいいよ w

I am senior, majoring in japanese at Hankuk university of foreign studies.

I went to japan last year, I met naoki there.

I participated in paddy from octover 2006.

Though my english was terrible, but i was really happy to meet paddy`s members.

I never forget!

maybe I`ll go to japan next year, too.

I want to become a waseda`s graduate student & to get a job in tokyo.

and want to go to paddy again.

みんなにあいたいよ♡

thank you for listening to my presentation last time.

すごく緊張してごめんね。多分あんまり聞き取れなかったかもね。 涙

I`m very pleased to meet you again.

let`s enjoying this time!

Suggestion for better TV conference from Naoki(Be sure to read!!)

(Be sure to read!!)
How was the first session of the TV conference in this term?
What impression did you feel??

I talked with Emi yesterday and we have notices some pointes that we need to change for better session. I will introduce them here and would likeyou to keep them in your mind for the next session.

1.Speak slowly and arculately near from the microphone!

Some members in Waseda side noticed that voice of the members in KU side sitting far from the microphone had been hard to listen to. So, It seems that KU side change of the tables so that all of the members can take a seat near from the microphone. In addition, we need to try to speak slowly and articulately. What is imortant is to make your oppinion understood by all of the other members, not to speak English fluently. We need share the others' oppinion.

2, We need to use much time for discussion.

Quite a few members had the impression that the presentation was so long that we could not discuss deeply. It will not be good because the main activity of TV conference is making discussion and sharing the others' opinion rather than making presentation(Presentation is important too, though) Therefore, the members who are supposed to make their presentation are required to make shorter one than the one I made on this Monday(I am sorry that our presentation was long and kind of boring^^;;)

3, Say your name when you have a remark.
It seems that many members, especially who participate in the TV conference for the first time, do not know each of the members' name. So, how about saying your name so that the others can memorize you face and name. This will lead to make the atmosphere better and to get closer with each others.

4, Contact with each presentater in advance
Presenter of the same topic in KU side and WU side better contact with each other in advance so that each presentation would not include the same content. As many of you may have notices, My presentation included similar scontent in some slides as the one made by Emi.

I will send the E-mail address list of KU side to WU side soon!!

Thank you for your cooperation.
Naoki

Self Introduction

Hi Everyone,
My name is Janiece and I am actually an exchange student from York University in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, at Korea University. I am a fourth year student and my major is English Literature, my minor is Linguistics and I am also doing TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). I learned of this conference through Jaran Shin, my dearest friend, and thought that it was a really good opportunity to be involved in. I look forward to hearing everyone's opinions and meeting everyone during the video conferencing!

Best Regards,
Janiece DeJong

Ryuichi Ueyama

Hello. I'm Ryuichi Ueyama.
I'm goning to see you lads at TV conference.
I hope it works well for both of us and hope I'm not the last one to do self-introduction.
Nice to meet you.

Hi GUYSSSSS!

Hi guys! It's really great to have you again! hehe

I'm Jaran Shin and a senior student of Korea University. (Unfortunately, even though I'm senior, I cannot graduate "in the near future" because of my lacking of credits =_=;; Anyways! lol) I'm majoring in Classical Chinese and double majoring English Language and Literature.

When I first organized this TV conference with Mayu in 2006, I didn't really expect both of Korea and Waseda sides could have sessions over one semester. (At that time, the first trial itself was pretty tough because of economical problems and permission stuff. Because of many things, I really appreciate Mayu's hard working and precious efforts for this session. She made all the things done for me. :) ) I'm really happy and satisfied that I can join the session again in the fall semester of 2007. This session means a lot to me since I was dying last sememster because of the fact that I couldn't join the session since I was in Canada. :) So I do hope this BEAUTIFUL cultural exchange can last for such a long time.

As you all notice, topics of this semester are not so easy. Many topics are really heavy and sensitive but also important. Through sessions, I hope we don't get frustrated. Let's just enjoy the sessions and have fun! Getting know new things and new people are JUST exciting and that's all we need for this sessions. And I'm sure that will be the best way to keep the sessions going. If there is any small/big concern, please let us know and I and also other members of KU side will do our best to solve it and make the situation better.

I'm REALLY X1000000000000 looking forward to seeing you through TV and see you soon!

Cheers,

Jaran Shin

Actually I continue to join the TV-session with KU from the first time.
I love to talk with foreign students and exchange our opinions.
Also, I think it is wonderful that we can visit each other and keep in touch even after the session.

I hope we will have a lot of fun together through this fall session as well.
I am looking forward to seeing you all.

Thank you.

Masayo

from JiYoung

Nice to see you guys here!
I'm JiYoung KIM, from Korea univ.
Sorry that I'm writing this so late, but 'better late than never', right?? ^^

I'll just introduce myself once again, because I am and was a newcomer at the conference.
I graduated from Korea univ., majored in Law,
and now I'm in the master's course for international law.
Actually I am writing my thesis just now, getting totally exhausted...TT

It was a really nice experience that I could have such an exciting time with you all!
Never expected to see Japanese speaking English so well! (No offence ^^)
And thank you for the nicely formulated presentation, I really loved it!
And the topic was great! You guys were just perfect!

I guess I have to sum up the things I talked about at the conference in writing and upload the material, since I am always hasty and in hurry when I speak in English...
I promise to do it sometime later ^^

Once again, thank you all,
Hope to get a chance to see you guys again, either on TV or in reality! ^^

After the First Session that became the Final

Hello, it's Dong-In reporting from Korea Univ.
I just felt like scribbling down some words after our first and final session
since most of us didn't get to have a chance to have their final words due to the time limit.

(ell, I see the founder of this whole project, Mayu, left her message as always :))

I really enjoyed exchaning opinions with you guys.
Japan's Constitution issue has always been one of my interests.
Despite the complexity of this issue, I would like to give much credit to Waseda members who prepared the topic and led the discussion. Hope this became a chance for many others to think about the current event like this.
On marriage, thanx Han seok and Dana for sparing your time to prepare all the materials and gathering new members. (I feel sorry that I could be of little help :P)
It's a seemingly simple yet very complicating issue at its core and it was worthwhile to think about what cohabitation might mean to each and every one of us.

Commenting on this very activity,
I strongly believe it really helped both Koreans and Japanese students to understand each other at least partially. The visible effect might be little but it is surely growing as Jaran and I from Korea Univ. visited Waseda Univ. last year. It triggered the return visit by Ari, Naoki, Yoko, and Mayu. Most of all, Naoki decided to come here to study Korean.(while I got to study Japanese more passionately) I am sure all this might have not been possible without this activity.

For all this, I dearly thank each member's participation and interest.
Hope this great experience would be passed onto more students so that it can not only contribute to the friendship between Waseda and Korea Univ. but between Japan and Korea.

Finally, it was nice meeting the new members from both sides including Midori, Takahiro, Ahn(from Korea Univ. sorry if mispelled) on Waseda side and Ji-Young(your knowledge on Int'l Law really held!!), Yeo-reum, Won-Hee, Bo-Hyun. Hope you guys all continue participating with passion!^^
last but not least, best regards to Mr. Snowden who willingly sacrificed his precious time to supervise the acitivity

Hopefully, see you guys all~

あざす!
감사!
Thanx!

Jiyong, Ahreum, Wonghi(?) its very nice meeting with you~~~^^ Jiyong is so cool...

Anyways, i wanted to write this numer
2004年で、夫が29.6歳、妻が27.8歳
2004 research by ministry of health, averrage marriage age is 29.6 for male and 27.8 for female.

According to Hanseock's number about korean averrage marriage, it seems korean male marry about 3 years later than japanese male marry...Probably because of army service?

ah i have some more to write and lots to talk personally ! but i gotta go for classes..
anyways, thank you ari, yoko, masayo and everyone who contributed...prof Snowden too~

How are you guys DONG IN?

OOOPs! I misspelled.
I meant to say "How are you guys DOING?"

Hi, I am KANG Dong-In from the college of law at Korea Univ. but I also major in political science(in which I am very very interested).
I just visited here since I heard there will be a new session coming up soon and it's good to see the BBS filled with participants'(along with some new comers from Waseda) messages.

It's been a long time since we held the last session between Waseda and Korea Univ.
Since I am taking a semester off right now, I cannot not assure you guys my participation.
I would like to participate as much as I can, but at the same time, I hope people other than me take part in and get involved in this acitivity as much as I have.

I'd like to show my utmost appreciation to the staffs in Waseda and Korea Univ. for their constant efforts and passion to make yet another session possible this semester.

Thanx and hope we all have much fun!!
